Maryland Shore Pet Resort Now Officially Open

Vienna, MD (PRWEB) June 23, 2009

Maryland Shore Pet Resort, the only full-service luxury pet lodging, grooming and training facility of its kind on Maryland's Eastern Shore, formally opened its doors today, welcoming canine and feline visitors alike to enjoy its breathtaking range of services. Kicking off the celebrations with its public grand opening, the festive atmosphere featured a DJ, dog training demonstrations and guided tours of this state-of-the-art facility.

Located at 4556 Ocean Gateway, Vienna, MD 21869–just off Route 50 between mile markers 92 and 93, Maryland's “Ocean Gateway”–and on the way to Ocean City, Md., the Resort is situated on more than 440 acres of prime country property, making it the largest deluxe facility of its kind on the Eastern Seaboard. Seven years in the making, it's the dream and life's work of Shore residents Frank and Theresa Durham. The former is an award-winning dog trainer and the successful proprietor of Walker Branch Retrievers, LLC; the latter is a senior executive with a pharmaceutical company.

“When Frank and I met, the thing we had most in common was our love of animals,” said Theresa Durham, co-owner of the Resort. “Even though I work in the pharmaceutical industry, I've always dreamed of finding a way to make animals the center of my life, just the way Frank has with his. The Resort is the culmination of that dream; of not just working with and serving animals, but providing a greatly-needed service to residents and visitors of the Shore alike.”

Maryland Shore Pet Resort offers standard and luxury overnight accommodations, doggy day camp, full service all-breed grooming, numerous indoor and outdoor activities, a custom-built spa for the ultimate in fitness, and professional obedience and Retriever training (in conjunction with Walker Branch Retrievers, LLC). Also on site are an elite pet supplies and gift boutique, the Best-Friend Bistro™ gourmet pet restaurant, and the Pure-Bred Bakery™.

“I'm absolutely delighted that Frank and Theresa's hard work is bearing fruit,” said Mayor of Cambridge, Md., Victoria Jackson-Stanley. “Their investment in the Resort will keep more than pet owners happy; it's a symbol of their commitment to our region and economy. I very much hope residents and visitors to our area alike will visit the Resort and give it the support it deserves.”

As well as Jackson-Stanley, Dorchester County Council President Jay Newcomb and President of the Board of Directors of the Dorchester Humane Society, Sharon Keutmann, were on hand to kick off the festivities. And what would a pet resort grand opening be without a four-legged supervisor? “Big Boy,” the Resort's resident kitty, adopted from the Dorchester Humane Society, was also on hand to supervise the proceedings.

Since an active dog is a happy dog, the Resort has several entertainment and activity packages available and will also customize activity packages based on each pet's individual needs. Discounts are available for seniors, military personnel and for multiple pets of the same family. For a reservation or more information, please call 410-376-2107 during lobby hours or visit the Resort's website.
