How to Find a Copy of Your High School Yearbook

Almost every high school has a yearbook for students to purchase as a reminder of years gone by as they grow older. Some students order them and keep them forever. Others don’t order them for whatever reason there may have been at the time. Yet others lost their high school yearbooks somewhere along the way of life. There is a way to get those memories back though. It depends on your purpose for wanting the yearbook as to how you go about finding one.

How to find a copy of your high school yearbook:

Library- The first place that you can look to find an old high school yearbook is to go to the library. Many local libraries have copies of the yearbooks on hand. These yearbooks are often donated by someone who decided that they no longer want the yearbook or by the family of someone who has passed away. This is one of the best ways to look for a yearbook as long as you don’t want to purchase a copy of it.

Classmates.com- Classmates.com now has some high school yearbooks available to view online. There is a catch though, you have to pay for membership to view it. If you choose not to do that but still want the yearbook, you can purchase a hard copy of it to be sent to your home. The only problem is that they don’t have a lot of the high school yearbooks available. It might be well worth it if you really wished that you had purchased a yearbook for your senior year and failed to do so or if your copy got destroyed or lost along the way.

Schools- Some high schools may keep yearbooks on their property. Contact the high school that you went to in order to see if they have a copy of the yearbook from the year you are looking for. You may be able to copy some of the pages if you wish or find out if it is possible to order a copy of it from the company that printed the yearbook. The school may also be able to lead you to another place that will have what you are looking for.

Old Classmates- If you have remained in contact with any of your old classmates, you may be able to ask to borrow one of their yearbooks for the purpose of looking it over or copying some of the pages. Many people have their yearbooks tucked snuggly away somewhere and wouldn’t mind you borrowing the book. Just don’t forget to return it to them in a reasonable amount of time and in the same condition as when you borrowed it.

Yearbook Company- If all else fails and you can remember the name of the company that printed your yearbooks, you might try to contact them to see if they keep any copies of old yearbooks on their files. This may be a long shot, but it is worth a try. Some may have kept them for future use with the foresight that they may have orders years down the road. If that is the case, you may be lucky enough to find the high school yearbook that you are looking for.

Your senior year of high school was probably a very special time for you. It is the last year that you spent in the school as a student and you may have left friends behind on graduation day never to see them again. It is fun to stroll down memory lane every now and then to get a little giggle about times past. There are ways to find your high school yearbook, you just have to do a little digging to get there.
