How to Be a Successful Dropout

No one has to take the time out to teach an infant how to speak or walk, but yet virtually all children will teach themselves these critical skills without much assistance. This example is only to demonstrate the illogical belief that simply because you don’t like schooling, you are uneducated.

A lot of dropouts play into this belief by simply giving up on themselves when they dropout. I am not here to debate whether or not you should drop out school and I am also not here to tell you how to do so when you drop out, The purpose of this article is to show those who’ve already made the decision to drop out that anything can be achieved if you set your mind to it and dropping out of school is definitely not the end of the world.

If you enjoy school, know what you want to do with your life and have your future well mapped out, then this article is not for you. This article is for those that know that schools simply do not fulfill them and worse eating at their souls. For those who cannot stand school or have had negative experiences with the schooling system, there are still many ways to be successful and even wealthy as a dropout.

This article will cover a few things to keep in mind for dropouts. No one drops out of school and says I want to accomplish nothing significant and work low paying jobs for the rest of my life. Almost everyone I know has high hopes and aspirations of achieving wealth and financial independence. The problem for dropouts is that the road is not all mapped out, there will be a lot of personal risk involved most of the time, and everyone around you from your friends and family to even movies and TV commercials are telling you that you made the wrong decision and will end up a failure.

If you do a search online for simply the words “dropout” you will mostly find articles telling people why they shouldn’t drop out, why they should go back to school and repeat what they already established doesn’t work for them (classical insanity) and how they should grit their teeth and suffer through the experience for a financially secure future.

Well I am here to say that you can be successful as a dropout and there are many examples of people who dropped out of school to become successful entrepreneurs and business owners. The key here is having not only the right drive and motivation, bu also having the right support network of people who understand your situation and are willing to work with you to help you achieve your goals.

The one thing no one talks about is that most very successful individuals had role models and mentors that helped them achieve their vision and pushed them each step of the way. Most dropouts in this country face the exact opposites. The only advice you get is go back to school or the distorted visions of success perpetuated by the media which skews our view of our own potential and leads us astray to bad investments and time wasting ventures.

The first step to being a successful dropout with a success story to tell down the road is to shake yourself free of the stigma that education happens only through schooling. Get on the internet and discover the true meaning of education, get reintroduced to learning new things everyday outside of school. Once you have regained your natural relationship with learning as the act of watching others do things and attempting to do them yourself, success will be a natural reflex.

The number one difference between the successful dropouts and those who never truly break out of poverty is that one group although out of school, remained dedicated to learning new skills and building their human capital while the other bought into the perpetuated belief that without schooling one can never get educated.
