Best Colleges and Universities with Online Business Degrees

U.S. News and World Report released their Best Business Schools for 2011 list on August 17, 2010. The schools at the top of the list are similar to, though not identical to the list put out by Bloomberg Business Week. has a list of their Best Buys for online business degrees. Forbes also released their top colleges, according to students, on August 11th. Education-Portal has numerous lists for business schools, as well. Put all of these lists together, and which business schools with online degrees are at the top of the list? What are some of the other top-ranked online-only business degree programs?

Top-Ranked Schools with Online Business Degree and Certificate Programs

Only a handful of those top-ranked colleges offer complete programs online for business. Most of them have programs that are friendly to those who work full-time, but they require evening and weekend classes. Here are a handful that provide at least some business certifications online, if not complete degrees.

University of California – Berkeley

The University of California – Berkeley is ranked #7 is the U.S. News Top Graduate Schools and #6 is Business Week’s undergraduate programs. They currently offer online certification in various aspects of business, including analysis, marketing, and project management.

Cornell University

Cornell University is ranked #10 by U.S. News for undergraduate business school. They have a distance learning program, known as eCornell, that provides certification in many business areas of management.

Emory University

Emory University, in Atlanta, GA, is ranked #3 by Business Week for undergraduate business degrees. They also provide an online MBA program, that does require some coursework to be done on campus.

Indiana University

Indiana University at Bloomington is ranked #10 on the U.S. News list. They offer a complete bachelor’s and MBA degree program online, as part of the distance learning program through Indiana University.

University of Massachusetts – Amherst

UMass at Amherst is ranked #78 by Business Week. Their University Without Walls program offers numerous bachelor’s degree programs.

University of Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business is ranked #1 by Business Week, but did not make it into the top 10 from U.S. News. Instead of online business degrees, you can earn executive certifications in three areas.

Penn State

Pennsylvania State University has been offering correspondence courses for years, and now offers numerous degrees online. In 2009, they were ranked 21st by U.S. News. Get a B.S. or iMBA through them.

Syracuse University

Syracuse University in New York is ranked #46 by Business Week. They offer an online MBA degree program, that requires a small residency, such as one weekend a semester.

Texas A & M

Texas A & M ranks 40th on Business Week, and is not in the Top 10 for U.S. News, but they are ranked #2 in’s Best Buys. They currently offer a nonprofit certificate completely online.

University of Florida

The Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida offers an undergraduate business degree online. Their school ranks #55 on the Business Week rankings.

Top-Ranked Online-Only Business Degree Programs

DeVry University

DeVry University used to advertise on TV as a campus-based program, and now offers quality online learning, as well. Get an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

Kaplan University

Kaplan offers degree programs ranging from a non-degree through a master’s degree.

University of Phoenix

University of Phoenix is a highly popular online degree program that has been around for a long time. Their business programs range from non-degree, all the way up to a PhD.

Walden University

Walden University offers courses to complete a degree from associate’s on up to doctorate. Coursework is 100% online.
